Welcome to the Avril Elizabeth Home for the Mentally Handicapped.

To all our friends and donors please be advised that our telephone lines at the Home are down due to suspected cable theft. Our landline number 011 822 2233 has now been diverted to our emergency cell on 082 465 5303. You may also mail us on aehome@mweb.co.za which is using a dongle rather than Telkom line. We will post when lines are up again, with many apologies for any inconvenience. Parents and family are welcome to email Nicola Tudor for any queries directly related to their children - aehstim@mweb.co.za

We’re so pleased you found us. Step through our doors and you’ll find a place filled with love, light and laughter. Sunlight and music spill into our corridors as residents and staff go about their daily activities.

The Home

Our residents are not simply housed and fed, but are encouraged to reach their maximum potential.

Stimulation & therapy

Support services, skilled nursing and physiotherapy is the heart of the Home.

Our residents

The Avril Elizabeth is currently home to 151 permanent residents and 14 day care attendees.

#200forAvril Cycle Challenge

The bicycle is turning 200 years old and there’s no better way to celebrate than with a Cycle challenge where proceeds will go towards helping the home. We’d like to invite all cycling enthusiasts to enter the cycle event for our cause #200forAvril.

Purchase a Joy Teddy Bear Pendant from Jenna Clifford and part of the proceeds will go to the Avril Elizabeth Home for the Mentally Handicapped.

How you can help

We have relied and survived on the generosity of our donors for 46 years and we need your help to continue to do so.

155 intellectually disabled residents currently call Avril Elizabeth their home.
