'Baby May'
At the age of two years, little Naledi was abandoned near the gates of the Avril Elizabeth Home on 25 May 2010 - hence the name 'Baby May'. She was medically examined and found to be in good physical health, but profoundly intellectually disabled.
'Baby May's' father was eventually located and claimed that the child had been 'dumped' at his place of residence by the mother and that he had no means to look after her. The father also said he wasn't even sure if the child was his.
Whilst 'Baby May' was kept in safe custody at Avril Elizabeth Home, the Social Workers took the matter to court and in November 2010, we were granted permission to keep 'Baby May' on.
Although now 3 years old, 'Baby May' is still unable to sit up by herself nor is she able to walk as her limbs are constantly in spasm.
