The story

Every week day, the delicious aroma of freshly baked bread wafts over the Home. Follow your nose and you’re likely to find our resident Garth. Garth has been baking since 1996, when Albany Bakery sponsored a bakery and provided training to both himself and Regina, a kitchen staff member who has since retired. Garth now runs the bakery with the assistance of Thembi. Garth goes about his task of baking 80 loaves of bread a day which much enthusiasm, and is very proud to carry out this important function. Aside from baking the daily staples of white and brown bread, Garth has also mastered raisin bread, hot cross buns, hamburger buns and hot dog rolls.
